Building Bridges With Your Stories
Through stories, we learn from one another and build a network of support. Stories can connect and inspire
us. This year, we put the focus on your stories and the bridges they will build between us.

Amplifying Student Voice and Choice in the Classroom Using Educational Technology

This session will emphasize the importance of encouraging student voice and choice in the classroom. Student voices have power. Establishing a classroom culture that values student voice and recognizes different learning styles can help teachers tailor an instructional approach to engage students and meet their learning needs.

Participants will learn about a variety of technological tools that can be used with existing district hardware and infrastructure. The development of “choice boards” allows for individualized, often performance-based assessments that allow for a variety of student learning styles. Video response websites, such as Flipgrid, allow for all students’ voices to be heard, increasing engagement. In addition, it increases student time on task, maximizing student-centered instruction.

Embedding Digital Literacy in Any Classroom
There is a huge need to incorporate digital literacy, digital fluency, and digital citizenship lessons in our classrooms. But with demanding curriculum, testing, and lack of time, teachers often struggle to fit these lessons in. Come to this session to see how to embed these lessons across curriculum and in any subject or grade level. This session will include a toolkit of ready-made lessons you can use in your classroom next week!
